A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy and his father are set to pedal their way into the record books by completing an epic bike ride covering the length of Britain.Henry Cole and his dad Adrian, aged 35, will embark on the last stage of their charity cycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats later this month. If the pair reach the tip of Scotland, Henry will become the youngest person to ever complete the mammoth ride, which is nearly 900 miles long.Henry's cycling feats have attracted interest from the national press and television and he is starting to become something of a celebrity in his home village of Winscombe.Henry, who will start at Winscombe Woodborough Primary School in September, and his dad have split the trip into three stages and will begin the final stage through Scotland on May 26, starting from Gretna Green. They cover an average of 30 miles a day with Henry pedalling a trailer cycle attached to the back of his father's bike. Adrian, aged 35, who works as an accountant for First Group in Bristol, said: "Henry just loves it, no matter how many miles we've covered he carries on pedalling away with a grin on his face. "Although he is not on a separate bicycle his little legs never stop pushing so he is always contributing to the forward propulsion of the bike."I actually cycled the route about 20 years ago and I really wanted Henry to experience it as well. To do it a second time will be something special too."Henry's mum Sara, aged 38, follows behind in a car which doubles as a supply vehicle and the family stops at youth hostels along the way.The Coles want to donate half their sponsorship money to Bristol-based charity for brain injured children Headway. The money will represent a thank you to the charity after it supported Sara when she suffered a head injury after falling from a horse in 1979.The rest will go to St Mary's Church in Langford, which has started a 'Powerhouse Project' to improve its facilities. The ride began in Cornwall in August last year when Henry was just three-and-a-half and the father and son duo finished the first stage in Avonmouth on September 7.They set off again 10 days later, passing through Monmouth, Shrewsbury and Wigan before reaching Gretna Green in November.Adrian also struck lucky on Weston Hospicecare's Beachball Lottery this month and will use his £600 winnings to help fund the trip.Anyone who wants to help sponsor the Coles should visit website www.adrianandsaracole.com
