CROWDS gathered outside the war memorial in Worle High Street on Sunday in a service of remembrance.

More people than ever turned up to show their respects and observe a two-minute silence.

A service of prayers, hymns and reading was lead by Richard Stableford, a reader at St Martin’s Church and representatives from the Royal British Legion.

Poppy wreathes were laid by members of the community and the traffic was stopped for the two-minute silence.
