Berrow beach’s car park entrance has been forced to close this week due to it being damaged.
A weekend of stormy and high tides caused damage to the concrete roadway and left it dangerous to users and at risk of damaging their vehicles.
Work is underway to repair this and Sedgemoor District Council – which is in charge of the car park – decided to close it to enable the work to be completed.
A spokesman from the council said: “Some of the concrete and sand surrounding the roadway was washed away. leaving deep, sharp edges where vehicles could damage their tyres.
“Work to repair the concrete roadway has been going ahead this week.”
The council confirmed it was hopeful the entrance would be re-open sometime today (Thursday).
