A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent after four bottles of flammable liquid were thrown onto a building site.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident in Highbridge which took place during the early hours of August 2 at a building site in Newton Road.

Four bottles of flammable liquid were thrown over a hedge, which landed near to security staff.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “We’re appealing for witnesses following an incident in Highbridge.

“The suspect was chased towards Apex Park but he then disappeared from sight in a nearby housing estate.

“A man in his 20s was later arrested on suspicion of arson with intent.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time who may have information to help out enquiries.

“We would particularly like the person who had previously contacted us with information, which helped us arrest the suspect, to contact us.

“Anyone able to help is asked to contact us on 101 quoting reference 5218172337.”
