Travelodge hotel plans approved by council

Plans to build a 75-bedroom Travelodge hotel have been given the green light today (Tuesday).

Sedgemoor District Council’s development committee approved the plans during a meeting this morning.

It means work can begin on building the hotel, which is expected to create around 21 jobs, on land to the east of Bennett Road on the Isleport Business Park.

Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council had previously objected to the plans, believing they go against the area’s proposed light industrial use and will take visitors away from the centre of Highbridge.
