Historic fountain runs dry

A FOUNTAIN installed on Weston seafront as part of a £3.9million revamp less than 18 months ago ran dry over the weekend.
The newly-restored ornamental fountain in Princess Royal Square off Beach Road dates back to 1913, when it was originally installed.
North Somerset Council shut off the water last Friday to undertake ‘essential maintenance’ on the feature and get it in perfect working order for the Diamond Jubilee, according to a spokesman.
