A GROUP of charity fundraisers will be taking part in a London Marathon with a difference this weekend.
Burnham-resident Holly MacBeth and her team from Somerset Breakthrough Breast Cancer are walking the 17th annual Moonwalk London on Saturday night, a marathon-length route beginning on Clapham Common at midnight.
Holly was inspired to take part after being affected by breast cancer in her family, and will walk the 26.1-mile stretch alongside fellow group member Kathryn Pearson, her sister Bec Humphreys and friend Victoria Mackenzie.
Holly and Kathryn have both taken part in the 13.8-mile half-moon walk before, but this will be their first attempt at scaling the full distance, after training since November.
She said: “It was hard last year during the half run but I was definitely not quite as fit as I am now, and I’m really looking forward to doing the full one this year.
“It is a big part of my family’s every day lives and it means a lot to me to support the charity. We have been doing well, we have got past our £500 target and raised it to £750 because of the level of support.
“The Batch Country House has been great and sponsored us for our hotel and travel expenses, it’s a lot of money to support the event. We’ve hit the 21 mile barrier in training so things are going well.”
