The Home Office's immigration department carried out a raid in Weston-super-Mare on Sunday, where an Albanian man was arrested.

Immigration enforcement officers visited Golden Hand Car Wash, in Locking Road, on Sunday.

A spokesman from the home office told the Mercury they were assisted by Avon and Somerset Constabulary on the intelligence-led operation.

They added: “A 35-year-old Albanian man was arrested as he was found to have entered the UK illegally.

“He has been transferred to immigration detention, pending removal for the country.”
