A WESTON couple enjoyed a trip to the Isle of Wight 60 years after visiting the resort for their honeymoon.

Dorothy and Joseph Thomas, of Earlham Grove, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on April 14 with family and were delighted to receive a card from the Queen.

The couple first met when Dorothy, who is originally from Windsor, visited Weston with her friend for a holiday.

They married a year later at Bishopsgate Evangelical Church at the edge of Great Windsor.

Before retiring Dorothy, aged 82, worked in the outpatient unit of Weston General Hospital and Joseph, aged 86, had his own painting and decorating business.

The couple, who have three children, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, say the key to a long and happy marriage is ‘support from a caring family’.
