Scarecrows dressed in historical costumes will be dotted around Uphill waiting to be discovered this weekend.

Uphill Village Society is holding the Great Uphill Scarecrow Festival – and this year the theme is Horrible Histories.

Families have been busy kitting their scarecrows out to look like characters from the past.

The festival starts with the judging of school entries on Friday afternoon, where they will remain on display over the weekend.

Scarecrow hunters can enjoy a tour of the village to see which characters they can spot.

St Nicholas Church, in Uphill Road South, will serve cream teas on Sunday afternoon, while the Methodist church will serve refreshments on Saturday.

Family entertainment will be provided at the primary school on Saturday evening.

Tickets to the Saturday evening entertainment are available on the village society’s Facebook page.
