A HORSE fair, which is popular with travellers and gypsies, is being held in a North Somerset village this weekend.
A Banwell landowner has agreed to lease his fields south of Pumphouse Farm, Riverside, for the annual three-day event.
Travellers have been invited to bring caravans in order to camp at the site throughout the event.Avon and Somerset Constabulary is aware of the event and is liaising with the parish council, but have reassured residents it is unlikely to attract large numbers of people.
According to police, the horse fair took place in Riverside last year without incident, although officers plan to pay the site a visit to ensure it is being run properly.
As well as having horses on show, there will be trade stalls, tack sales, a hog roast and refreshments.
The show itself is due to run from Saturday to Monday, but those camping at the site may stay for up to a week.
