Horse lessons offer for youngsters
PUBLISHED: 17:30 24 July 2014
CHILDREN with challenging behaviour or learning difficulties can take part in cut-price horse-riding lessons, thanks to a charity grant.
Sidcot Equestrian Centre in Winscombe has been awarded funding to offer the eight-week course for those struggling with traditional schooling at half the usual fee.
Youngsters who are at risk of being excluded from school or suffer from dyslexia, Asperger’s syndrome, dyspraxia or ADHD will be taught how to care for and ride horses and ponies.
They will be taught basic horse care and will be allocated one each to look after during the course.
There are only 40 spaces available for the autumn classes for children aged four to 18 across Somerset, costing £15 for a 90-minute session every week.
