A North Somerset equestrian centre held a charity event at the weekend and raised £300 for the air ambulance.

Francesca Evans, of Banwell Equestrian Centre, organised a small horse show to gather funds for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity after it helped her after an accident.

She said: “I organised this event because I have used the service before due to a horse riding accident.

“I was doing British showjumping and the pony I was on bucked me off and I went flying into the side of the arena wall.

“I broke my left femur in half and the air ambulance arrived in minutes of being called so I could be taken to hospital very quickly.

“It took me a good five months to be able to walk again.”
