Hospicecare hopes for glowing success

Fresh from the success of the first Weston Colour Run, a popular town charity has announced the launch of another brand new event this year called the Neon Five.
Major cities across the world have already cottoned on to the illuminated events, but Weston Hospicecare is the first to bring it to the seaside town.
The Neon Five is a 5km adventure through the darkness with surprises waiting round every corner.
The route will take walkers twisting through the trees of Weston Woods which will be filled with music, bright lights and hidden delights.
Participants are invited to go dressed in vivid clothes, neon war paint and armed with glow sticks.
Walkers will then enjoy different ‘glow zones’ en route, including Electric Avenue, Space Odyssey, Alice’s Wonderland, the Enchanted Forest and Retro Revival.
By happy coincidence, the event has been organised for October 25, the night the clocks go back - meaning tired walkers will then be able to enjoy an extra hour in bed, secure in the knowledge they have spent their bonus hour helping a good cause.
Event fundraiser Claire Dibben said: “We want to push the boundaries and offer the public new and unique ways to support their local hospice.
“The Neon Five is a move away from anything we’ve done before so we hope everyone is just as excited to take part as we are about organising it. ”
The event will begin at 6pm in Weston Woods in Worlebury Hill Road and there are just 900 spaces available.
