Hospital calls on smokers to stay away

PUBLISHED: 15:00 31 January 2011

BOSSES at Weston General Hospital are urging people visiting wards not to smoke outside building entrances.

Director of nursing, Ian Bramley, has called the act ‘unsightly and unpleasant’ in a message to people attending the Uphill facility.

He says the smoke is increasing litter and causing a fire risk and health hazard.

He said: “We are asking smokers to be considerate and move off the hospital grounds to smoke.”
