Monday’s fete in Manor Gardens was raising money for Burnham War Memorial Hospital and despite being scaled back due to bad weather, still raised the impressive sum, with the day organised by the friends of the hospital.

There were stalls from Burnham Lions, Burnham Area Rescue Boat (BARB), Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge (BOSH) Events and Macmillan Cancer Support among others, with all profits going to the hospital which has recently been hit by proposals to close two of its 22 beds due to cost-cutting measures.
