WESTON General Hospital has been named as one of the UK’s top 40 hospitals for an eighth consecutive year.

It was praised by Comparative Health Knowledge Systems (CHKS) following a review into 23 criteria varying from safety and efficiency to patient experience and quality of care.

Dr Tricia Woodhead, director of quality, safety and innovation at Weston Area Health Trust said it was proud to be ranked so highly out of the 133 trusts analysed.

She said: “We are the only South West hospital to have achieved that level of consistent performance in the history of the 40 top hospitals.

“It reflects the tremendous effort staff make here everyday to deliver high quality and efficient care.”

Healthcare service CHKS, who independently survey hospitals’ services and help with improvements, also analysed infection records and it praised the hospital for not having any MRSA cases in more than a year.
