WESTON General Hospital's chief executive has praised services and staff after completing her first six months in the job.

Lorene Read celebrated the milestone on Monday and is now looking ahead to the future, despite continuing financial pressures.

She said: "Finance isn't all this trust is about - it's also about the staff who work here and the services we provide.

"We have to make savings but at no detriment to the staff and patients and so far we have succeeded." Last year's accounts show a deficit of £6.7million.
