COUNCILLORS will today (Thurs) decide whether a bar in Weston town centre can reopen.

Kashmira and Wendy Johal have applied to reopen Hotshotz in Alexandra Parade – despite Avon and Somerset Constabulary objecting to the move.

The bar was closed last year after a series of incidents which culminated in a police raid aimed at cracking down on the sale of illegal drugs.

Members of North Somerset Council’s licensing sub-committee will today deliberate over a fresh application by the couple.

The police have submitted a raft of documents in opposition to Hotshotz’s reopening, including a document revealing that the number of incidents in a 50-metre radius around the bar has dropped 60 per cent since its closure
