A HOUSING development made up of 51 affordable homes has been opened in Weston.

The properties have been built in Landford Road on a site which once housed a Royal Mail sorting office.

Developer Raglan Housing worked with North Somerset Council on the £7.3million scheme and 80 per cent of the suppliers were companies within a 20-mile radius of Weston.

Raglan chief executive Nicholas Harris said: “This is a fantastic new development which is not only providing much-needed affordable housing for local people in the community but breathing new life into a previously neglected area of the town.

“We do, however, need many more affordable schemes like this in Weston and North Somerset to house local people and key workers who are vital to the long term health and sustainability of the community.

“Raglan is committed to working with the council and our development partners to meet this need.”
