Housing plans earn support from villagers

Plans to build up to 16 homes in a North Somerset village have been backed by an action group.
Industrial land owned by F Sweeting & Sons, in Sandford, could be developed for housing if North Somerset Council grants planning permission.
The land owner has submitted an outline planning application to the council to demolish the former lorry depot in Station Road and replace it with up to 16 homes.
Sandford Neighbourhood Group (SNG) wrote to the council to confirm it supports the plans.
A SNG statement read: “This development is relatively small, in the context of other developments, reuses a brownfield site, and provides a higher proportion of affordable housing than other proposed developments in Sandford.
“Providing this development is linked by a continuous pavement to Sandford village centre, and is served by good public transport links, we take the view that this development is reasonably sustainable.”
