HUNDREDS of cannabis plants were seized by police officers after two raids on drug factories in Weston town centre.
Officers swooped on an address in The Boulevard at around 11am on June 1, and then another in Atlantic Road South shortly after, seizing a large amount of plants from both addresses.
One man has been arrested in connection with the first address, and has pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis, a Class B drug.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said officers had acted on tip-offs from concerned members of the community, and had found significant numbers of plants being grown in both addresses.
He added that more than 600 plants were found between the two houses, with a ’60-40’ split between them, with the Atlantic Road South property containing more.
One man, said by police to be in his 30s, was arrested at the flat in The Boulevard, and appeared at North Somerset Courthouse on June 2, where he pleaded guilty to possession, and will now appear at Bristol Crown Court on June 16.
The spokesman said that there had been no-one found at the second address, which was only being used as a factory.
