A Weston-super-Mare charity has received a generous donation from the town’s Masonic order.

The Else Lodge of Mark Mason presented a cheque to Joan Eales and Mike Cooper from Somewhere To Go.

The group raised £736.50 for the homeless charity, which is based in the Boulevard, to help it continue to support some of Weston’s most vulnerable people.

Somewhere To Go relies heavily on donations to maintain its service.

The order’s worshipful master Chris Avery told the Mercury the money was raised through raffles which were held at the end of the order’s quarterly meetings.

He added: “All the proceeds from the past four raffles have been given to Somewhere To Go and we will be continue raising money for them in the future.

“I feel that not enough is done for people in this situation. Any number of people can end up in with nothing and this is why we support it.”
