A West Huntspill playgroup has been praised in its latest Ofsted report.

The West Huntspill School Under Fives Group, based in New Road, was rated as good in all four key areas including quality of teaching, effectiveness of leadership and children’s personal development.

The report, published following the inspection on December 11, lauds staff for providing ‘good quality’ outcomes for children who are described as ‘confident’ with ‘good self-esteem’.

The published report adds: “The management committee and manager support staff’s professional development very well.

“Staff plan a good variety of activities based on children’s interests, so they are keen to take part.

“Children understand about keeping themselves safe and preventing accidents, which they demonstrate during play.

“Children develop good skills to prepare them for the next stage in their learning.”
