Hutton Moor Leisure Centre in Weston-super-Mare celebrated 10 years of its Healthy Hearts scheme with a fitness class followed by coffee and cake.
The centre has been working with the British Heart Foundation for the past decade to run the initiative, which helps people to get back into exercise after suffering a heart attack or other cardiac problems.
The centre’s specialist health and exercise instructor Jo Rickwood has helped hundreds of people return to fitness in the past 10 years, with the help of GPs, physiotherapists and nurses.
To celebrate the milestone, clients from past and present got together to share their stories over coffee and a slice of cake.
One of the Healthy Hearts group’s members Qwen joined after having heart valve surgery in 2009.
She said: “I really enjoyed it and still attend weekly now. Good exercise, great people and Jo makes it a class not to be missed.”
