THE owner of a well-known wedding venue wanted to parachute into his own big day - but the extreme weather of the past weeks put a stop to that.

Ian Clapp, director at Rookery Manor in Edingworth, married Nichola Yeoman at St Mary's Church in East Brent.

Mr Clapp had planned to arrive at church via parachute with his best man Harry, but as that had to be called off, they instead opted to walk there from the Edingworth venue where the bride and groom live.

Nichola, who is the daughter of Benjamin and Lynda Godfrey, of Bridgwater, wore a personally-designed wedding dress.

She and Mr Clapp, the son of Patricia Clapp, of Abergavveny in Wales, held their reception at Rookery Manor.

They then headed off to Singapore, Sydney, New Zealand, Figi and Los Angeles on their honeymoon.
