Important town meetings cancelled

HEAVY snow has caused the postponement of an important open meeting tonight to discuss the future of Burnham's under-threat Tourist Information Centre.

HEAVY snow has caused the postponement of an important open meeting tonight to discuss the future of Burnham's under-threat Tourist Information Centre.

The 7pm gathering at the town council offices in Jaycroft Road, Burnham, will be re-arranged as soon as practicable.

Sedgemoor District Council has also cancelled the planned meeting of full council for today.

A spokesman said: "Sedgemoor District Council staff are working hard to maintain services, despite the current adverse weather conditions.

"Many members of staff have managed to get into work and are carrying on with their normal duties.

"Emergency and duty staff remain on stand-by in case of any unforeseen incidents in addition to the adverse weather.
