Improvements to Weston-super-Mare’s Town Square take shape

Plans to regenerate Weston in 2017 are already off to a flying start, after construction work to transform the Town Square began on Tuesday.
The £2million project will see the square and the Italian Gardens opened up to become a wider, continental-style space, with improved access to the seafront and the High Street for pedestrians. Pine trees, Mediterranean-style planting, lighting and a water feature will also be added.
Some £300,000 will also be spent on installing new paving at the square, and the stone used by architectural design firm Building Design Partnership (BDP) will be of the same quality of that used to improve Weston’s seafront several years ago.
