TWO volunteers who have given 13 years to planting in Weston have received an award for their service.

Burt and Cynthia Filer have been doing work with Weston In Bloom ever since it launched.

The pair received the South West In Bloom Alf Crouch Memorial Trophy for outstanding service.

The couple have now decided to retire.

They were surprised with the award when Weston In Bloom volunteers met at the Blakehay Theatre in Wadham Street last week to celebrate their recent success at South West In Bloom.

Weston In Bloom won gold for the fourth year running in the competition.

It also won the Tesco Cup for the first time in its history.
