Hutton Moor Leisure Centre celebrated its 30th birthday at the weekend with an action-packed open day.

An open day was held at the centre on Sunday and more than 1,000 people turned up to help staff at Hutton Moor celebrate.

After working up a sweat in the gym, or trying their hand at synchronised swimming with Team GB synchronised swimmer Cerys Hughes, people devoured 400 birthday cakes and got to find out more about some of Weston’s other organisations.

Children got the chance to sit inside a chopper thanks to the Helicopter Museum and try their hand at creating their own pieces of sand art with Weston Sand Sculpture Festival.

A spokesman for the centre said: “It was a great day. More than 1,000 people came and enjoyed a variety of activities for the whole family.

“The pool was packed and the sports hall was very busy – and the cake went down a treat.”
