Work on a 'fantastic' new outdoor gym in Apex Park will be completed in around two weeks' time, Sedgemoor District Council has revealed.

The Highbridge park is welcoming the £30,000 project, which will include a host of state-of-the-art gym equipment, including a cross trainer and a spinning bike.

There will also be a new link path developed between the new equipment and existing play facilities.

The work began on Monday and is expected to take around two weeks, as long as the weather permits the work to continue. The gym facilities will also include innovative new QR codes which will reveal instruction videos when scanned by a smart phone.

A spokesman for the council said: “We are delighted with the new outdoor gym designs. These fantastic facilities will be free to use and suitable for all ages and abilities.

“At a time when people are struggling to find money for gym fees or sporting activities this is a great way to get or stay healthy.”

The council will take on any future maintenance responsibilities of the gym equipment and path.
