Inquest into four-year-old Dylan’s death to be held

AN INQUEST into the death of a four-year-old boy who was lost at sea will be held next week after his body was found yesterday afternoon (Thurs).

Dylan Cecil’s body was found near the yacht club in Burnham at about 12.30pm, four days after he went missing.

A large-scale search and recovery operation was launched for the youngster after disappeared from the town’s jetty on Sunday evening.

Dylan was playing with his parents and younger sisters when he slipped off the jetty and was dragged under the water by the strong currents.

His parents Rachel McCollum and Darren Cecil immediately attempted to rescue Dylan but were pulled out by passers-by and emergency services.

Despite teams from BARB, the RNLI and the coastguard tirelessly searching the waters throughout Sunday night, the search was postponed on Monday morning and eventually called off the same evening.

The inquest will be opened by the West Somerset coroner at 11.30am on Tuesday.
