F H Halliday and Son, in High Street, was inspected by SAIF (The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors), which is an organisation set up to help promote and protect the future of independent funeral directors.

Matthew Aldridge, funeral director and manager of Halliday's said: "We are very proud to be members of SAIF, and equally proud to have passed our three-yearly inspection, which confirms that we abide with the code of practice set to protect the public.

"We are truly dedicated in providing the best possible service to the families we serve."

Halliday's is still a family-owned and run business that has been operating in Portishead since 1880.
