AN EXPERIENCED health figure will be brought into Weston Area Health Trust to take temporary charge following the departure of its chief executive.
Peter Colclough will become the interim chief executive of the trust when Lorene Read leaves at the end of the month.
The trust, which manages Weston General Hospital, has said it will appoint a permanent replacement in ‘due course’.
Mr Colclough will leave his post as chief executive of Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, a position he had held since 2009, for the role.
He had previously worked as chief executive at Torbay Care Trust as part of a career in the NHS which has span more than 20 years.
He said: “I am very pleased to be moving to Weston Area Health Trust as interim chief executive to lead the acute services organisation and to work with partners in the area to develop more integrated health and social care services that meet the needs of patients.
“It builds on my experience of delivering one of the first truly integrated health and social care services when I was in Torbay.”
Trust chairman Chris Creswick said: “I am delighted that Mr Colclough is able to join us at this time.
“The trust has made real progress on many fronts under Mrs Read’s leadership in recent years.
“We are looking now to build on that progress to meet the needs of patients in a changing NHS.”
