Weston-super-Mare star Dayle Grubb says his four-goal haul at home last Saturday was ‘amazing’ for him as he looks forward to welcoming the ‘exceptional’ Seagulls fans back to The Woodspring Stadium tomorrow (Friday).

Grubb scored four of Weston’s five goals last week as they thumped bottom side Bishop’s Stortford 5-0, leaving the side able to secure National League South safety tomorrow, if results go their way.

The club is hosting an open day ahead of their crucial clash with Margate and are offering fans the chance to watch the match for just £1.

There will also be a bouncy castle, happy hour at the bar and skills and games taking place in the sports hall.

Margate sit second bottom of the table and if Weston secure victory and Gosport lose to Bishop’s Stortford, the Seagulls will have won their fight against relegation.

Grubb told the Mercury the side’s last result had been coming.

He said: “Obviously it was really pleasing for me, it is the first hat-trick I have had playing for the first team and to get four was even better.

“I think it was only a matter of time until we beat someone by a few goals and to do it at home was amazing.

“The home crowd have been brilliant and they have stuck by us throughout the sticky patch we had been going through when they could have easily been against us, especially with how poor we were against East Thurrock.

“Also, I have to say the few fans who travel away are exceptional and the support we have been shown means a lot to us.”

Grubb has now scored 18 goals for the Seagulls this season, leaving him as one of the top scorers in the league.

To see if Grubb can add to that tally, head down to The Woodspring for a 3pm kick-off.
