A sponsored event where four-year-old Jacob Baird from Weston walked the length of Grand Pier has raised hundreds of pounds.

Jacob Baird, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy three years ago, completed his sponsored walk challenge in 25 minutes.

He underwent life-changing surgery in America in 2016 and the event was set up to not only raise money for two good organisations, but to also showcase his progress.

He completed the walk with the aid of a frame, and it is the furthest distance Jacob has walked on his own.

The event was so successful, he had £1,600 to split between two charities.

Jacob, along with mum Nicola, presented a cheque for £800 to the Conductive Education organisation.

He also handed over £800 worth of toys and learning resources to his North Somerset Portrage Services worker, Chris Rutherford.

The two organisations were responsible for providing care and support to Jacob and his family following his diagnosis.
