A WESTON man will be cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End to raise money for research into brain tumours.
James Pendleton, aged 34 and from St Georges, is teaming up with his friend Ian Welch, who lives in Dawlish, for the 838-mile trip.
They were inspired to take up the challenge after Ian’s father-in-law died from a category four brain tumour.
James’ mum and grandmother also needed brain surgery, but recovered thanks to advanced medical procedures. James said: “We both had a crazy idea to ride the length of the country raising awareness and money for such an important cause.
“I have done one other cycling challenge, which was 57 miles and I have been training since August. We’re saying it will take nine days to complete, but we are hoping to do it in seven or eight.
“My sister and her husband will be following us in a camper van.”
James and Ian are aiming to raise £500 for the Brain Tumour Charity. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/jamesian
