A TEENAGE asthma sufferer from Winscombe has set out to cover 1,000 kilometres around the UK's coastline to raise funds for charity.
Jamie Hayward, aged 19, from Yadley Close, says he was inspired to walk the 630 miles from Minehead to Poole by the book 500 Mile Walkies, and has set himself a target of raising £1,000 for Asthma UK.
Although he has seen his progress interrupted by an infected blister after completing the first 100 miles of his trek, the Plymouth University student is determined to achieve his goal by the end of the summer.
He said: “I’ve always wanted to do the coastal trek, and as I’m asthmatic, it seems like the best way to raise money for Asthma UK. So far I’m up to £905.”
