THE future looks bright for Weston with over 375 jobs on the horizon.Future People Recruitment is taking over the former Weston Decorators shop in the Boulevard and creating hundreds of jobs for the town. The owner of Future People Recruitment, Jason Smith, is closing offices in London, Liverpool, Scotland, Birmingham and Bristol, as well as in Alexandra Parade and Waterloo Street to centralise the entire company in the new office in the Boulevard. The three-storey building will house the growing business which employs commercial, industrial and technical staff as well as project management for companies like NTL, Telewest, Virgin and BSkyB.Mr Smith, aged 35, expects the new office to be open at the beginning of May and he will be looking to recruit about 30 extra office based staff and more than 350 field staff. He said: "I'm from Weston and wanted to centralise the business and bring more employment opportunities to my home town."The company isn't just about filling permanent and temporary positions. "Many people who work for us are on assignments around the South West and further afield in the UK. Some are even in China and the USA."Once the new site is open everyone who works for us will be trained in Weston."As part of the building's complete refurbishment, a 50-seat training suite will be created on the first floor.Mr Smith hopes to extend the business into the second floor in the future.A planning application to change the building from a shop into an employment agency was put before North Somerset Council's west area committee yesterday (Thurs).Officers recommended councillors approve the application stating the changes to the property, which has stood empty for over two years, would 'enhance the vitality and viability of the area'.lThe news comes in the same week as Systems Furniture in Locking Road has announced 35 redundancies. The office furniture manufacturer is moving the production side of the business to its headquarters in Oxford, leaving the Weston site as a distribution centre.
