A 10-year-old boy has surpassed his £400 target after completing a one-mile swim for a children’s charity.

Joseph Pascoe, from Weston, decided to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) through a sponsored swim.

The Mead Vale Primary School student completed the challenge at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, in Hutton Moor Road, on June 10, completing 64 lengths of the pool in 47 minutes and 42 seconds.

The final amount Joseph raised is being kept a secret as he said he ‘wanted to surprise’ CHSW.

Mum Joni said: “We are so very proud of him, he is such a kind, caring young man.

“He chose CHSW because he wanted to help at least one person in his lifetime.

“The hospice supported some of the children I work with and so it was really lovely of him to choose such a good cause.”
