A Cheddar journalist played golf from dawn until dusk on the longest day of the year to raise money for Action For Children.

Rob Perkins, aged 58, took to the Farrington Park course, in Bristol, to take part in Steve Pointon’s Flying The Flag Tikka challenge, which aims to raise a flag in every county of the UK for the children’s charity.

Rob said: “On one of the hottest days of the year I was questioning my sanity at times but I really enjoyed the challenge.

“The support I have received has been wonderful at the club and on the day we managed to raise more than £250 for Steve’s Flying The Flag charity campaign.”

Steve, who is also from Cheddar, said: “To raise more than £250 is a brilliant effort.

“I just want people to get out there and fly the flag for Action for Children, whether it’s skydiving or a gentle stroll somewhere.”
