JOY Buckeridge was surrounded by family and friends as she celebrated her 100th birthday at Stoneleigh Residential Care Home in Weston on June 16.
Joy, who was born in Croydon, gained her Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM) degree at the age of just 13, before going onto be a concert pianist, playing for the BBC at Albert Hall, and as part of the Royal Marines Band.
Her daughter, Shirley Hendrichs, said: “Mum is aptly named, as she is an outgoing character, while her sense of humour is priceless.”
