A WESTON woman has celebrated her 103rd birthday with her closest friends and family.

Mary Joy Buckeridge, known as Joy, was a successful concert pianist in her youth.

She gained her Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM) degree aged just 13 before going on to perform at the Royal Albert Hall.

Her daughter Shirley Hendrichs organised a party to celebrate the milestone and said: “We had to mark the occasion. It’s not every day you turn 103.”

Mrs Buckeridge lives at Stoneleigh Residential Care Home where the party was held.

Ms Hendrichs wanted to say a special thank you to Dr Mac and all the people who care for her mother at Stoneleigh for their ‘incredible devotion to the patients’.
