A Weston-super-Mare great-grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday with her family and friends.
Joyce Williams was born on July 21, 1917, in Norwich but moved to Weston at a very young age.
She was the eldest of nine children and has fond memories of pushing her younger siblings around in their prams and looking after them.
She met her first husband, Frank, in Weston and they married at Weston Town Hall in 1944, however the bride-to-be had to cycle to her wedding venue after the taxi did not show up at her house.
She worked as a bus conductress in Liverpool during World War Two, where her husband worked with the RAF.
The couple separated and Joyce remarried. She has six children and seven grandchildren.
Joyce’s daughter Christine said: “We have lost count of all the great-grandchildren.
“Mum played skittles until she was in her 80s and rode her bicycle until she had a near miss with a car. She never fails to surprise us with her stubbornness and strength.”
