THIEVES with 'no conscience' have stripped a church bare of most of its lead.
THIEVES with 'no conscience' have stripped a church bare of most of its lead.
The culprits struck three times leaving most of the roof of St Paul's Church in Kewstoke looking worse for wear.
Tony Griffin, who has been a church warden there for 10 years, believes the incidents happened between September 19-26.
He said: "The knock-on effect is that we have to repair the damage with more lead as it is a listed building.
"However, we are in discussions with the diocese to see if we can replace it with something that looks like lead so the thieves don't come back again.
"It is very sad that someone with no conscience has done this."
If anyone has any information about the thefts they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
