A FLAGSHIP development on Weston seafront has suffered a set back after a shock decision to change the building contractor, the Weston Mercury understands.Knightstone Island developer Redrow Homes is understood to be replacing its building contractors, Midas Projects.It is thought Redrow is unhappy with the prices it is being charged by Midas and has decided not to employ the company after it completes the demolition phase of the £14million scheme to build 87 flats.A Midas Projects statement said: "We are currently carrying out enabling works at Knightstone Island as per our contract with Redrow Homes. Any further involvement with the project is still under discussion."North Somerset Council's executive member for strategic planning, Cllr John Crockford-Hawley, said: "This is a matter between Redrow Homes and its contractor Midas Projects."The council's agreement is with Redrow and we continue to have confidence in its scheme."Redrow confirmed yesterday (Thurs) that a new building contractor will take over on May 2.
