UNISON North Somerset's retired members branch is scrapping its Town Hall meetings due to a lack of support.

The group believes this could be because elderly members are no longer able to attend and the union is now hoping to create a fresh, new group by involving younger, newly-retired members.

North Somerset Council’s Unison representative, Helen Thornton, said: “We are aware of this issue. Ollie Pratlett, who runs the retired members’ section, has done a great job for a number of years.

“The branch is in the process of setting up a campaigning retired members’ group and will be writing to newly-retired members to invite them to attend this new group.”
