Latest school closure update

MOST schools have confirmed they are open this morning (Mon).

MOST schools have confirmed they are open this morning (Mon).

The recent heavy snowfall caused havoc for all schools across the district towards the end of the week, with most forced to close.

The majority of schools in North Somerset and Somerset have opened today with the exception of a couple.

Worle Community School has confirmed it will be open to staff and year 11 pupils only.

Headteachers from The Kings of Wessex School, Churchill, Priory and Wyvern community schools have all confirmed they are also open.

Pupils who attend Worlebury St Paul's School are advised to visit its website to obtain class work, as the school will remain closed.

Mark First School in Somerset is also closed because of a burst water pipe, but staff should still arrive as normal.

Brent Knoll Primary School is without water so the building is closed, but the village hall has been booked so that lessons can continue for classes three and four.

The school is closed for pupils in classes one and two and the hot meal service for children will not operate, they must bring in a packed lunch.

West Huntspill School students are advised not to wear uniform but to wrap up warm instead. Pupils should not arrive before 8.45am.

The King Alfred School in Highbridge is open but shoe rules have been relaxed and pupils are advised to wear footwear with a good grip
