A LAUGH a day is the secret of a long and happy marriage, say Milton couple June and Derek Crocker, who are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.

Derek, aged 80, had been evacuated from Plymouth to Weston in 1941, and he met June, aged 81, at a youth club in 1948.

The couple married at St Mary’s Church in Hutton on May 14 1951, and now have four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with former draftsman Derek saying: “The secret to a happy marriage is to laugh every day, it’s very important.”
