A popular music festival is looking to relocate to North Somerset as organisers seek to boost its capacity.

Love Saves The Day (LSTD), which attracts tens of thousands of people every Whitsun bank holiday weekend, is set to move to Ashton Court, in Long Ashton, in 2021.

The festival's organisers has submitted a licensing application for the two-day festival to North Somerset Council.

Ashton Court, at 40,000, has almost double the capacity of Bristol's Eastville Park, which has hosted the event since 2015 and can accommodate up to 23,000 people.

Stars including Stormzy, Lily Allen, Fatboy Slim and Dizzee Rascal have all performed at LSTD, which will spend its final weekend at Eastville Park from May 23-24 next year.

Earlier this year, an LSTD spokesman revealed the event was looking for a new home.

They said: "After five triumphant years of Love Saves The Day in Eastville Park, the time has finally come for one last dance in our much-loved home.

"Since our inaugural event in Eastville back in 2015, LSTD has evolved across so many fronts, with 2019 culminating in spectacular fashion as our fastest selling event on record."

LSTD's application will go before the council's sub-licensing committee at Weston Town Hall tomorrow (Tuesday).

The organisers hope to host the event at Ashton Court from 2021 to 2023, with permission to open from 11am-11pm.

Each day will see up to 12 live bands take to the stage.

Tickets have gone on sale for the final festival at Eastville Park, but a line up is yet to be confirmed.

Tom Paine, one of the festival's directors, declined to confirm the festival is moving to North Somerset.

He said: "We're looking at all options for 2021 onwards, but who knows where the LSTD adventure will take us next.

"All our focus right now is on Eastville Park for 2020 and making sure that next year's show is the best one yet."
